Message	The brass colored ring is a syncro, that is the part that wears out and causes the grinding. Not certain what gear your looking at there. The large ring with the groove in it toward the bottom of the pic is what your shift linkage connects to and what causes the gears to engage each other as it skides over the shaft. The portion of the gear to the right barely in the pic would be a part of the main shaft. Thats all I know
